Electrical People: Mains named CEO of GE Industrial Solutions

GE (Atlanta): The  company has named Stephanie Mains as the new CEO of its Industrial Solutions business, which is part of Energy Management. She succeeds Bob Gilligan, who recently announced his retirement from GE after 25 years with the company. Prior to joining Industrial Solutions, she was the vice president of Distributed Power Global Services for GE Power, a provider of power equipment, engines and services focused on power generation at or near the point of use. During her two years in that role, she led the business to 19% revenue growth and tripled investment while leveraging the GE Store to expand life cycle offerings, digital solutions and global capabilities in both direct and indirect markets. She also brought three GE service product lines together to better service an installed base of more than 30,000 units.

Mains first joined GE Transportation as part of the company’s Financial Management program back in 1989 and during the next 10 years, held roles of progressive responsibility in finance and quality at GE Transportation and GE Capital. In 1999, she joined GE Aviation and held posts including chief financial officer (CFO) for Material Services, CFO for customized service agreements and quality manager for Engine Services. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Kentucky.

In other news at GE, the company announced that following the completion of its Alstom acquisition, GE Power & Water and Alstom Power have combined to form GE Power. Headquartered in Schenectady, N.Y., Steve Bolze will serve as president and CEO of GE Power, leading more than 65,000 employees in over 150 countries with estimated revenue of $30 billion.

 “We now offer utility and industrial power plant operators even more complete, customized ‘one-stop shop’ solutions, not just for developing new stations but also optimized life cycle support for existing facilities to support local energy security. Our portfolio of technologies include the world’s largest and most efficient gas turbine (the HA), full power plant components, boilers, steam turbines, reciprocating engines and more,” he said in the press release. “Being a digital industrial business, we also offer digital and software solutions, specifically our Digital Power Plant, which helps our customers increase output, improve efficiency, lower operating costs, improve integration of renewable energy and reduce unplanned downtime.”

ElectroTech (Minneapolis): John Fowler has received his CSP (Certified Sales Professional) designation. CSP training is held in multiple locations throughout the country per year and Fowler is one of over 1,000 people to receive this certification.  This training is designed to give salespeople a thorough understanding of consultative training and provide then with the necessary skills to become a top sales performer.

Epicor Software Corp. (Austin, Texas): Sabby Gill has been appointed executive V.P., Epicor International, effective immediately. Focused on accelerating international growth for Epicor, Gill will oversee operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC), with responsibility for sales, professional services, and field marketing. He is based at the company’s regional headquarters for EMEA in the United Kingdom and reports directly to Epicor President and CEO Joe Cowan.

Gill joins Epicor from end-to-end gaming company International Gaming Technology (IGT), where as senior vice president, international sales he was responsible for increased sales and market share in Latin America, EMEA and APAC. He brings more than 20 years of management and industry experience to the company, including executive management roles with technology companies such as HP, CA Technologies, Oracle, PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle) and Digital Equipment Co. (DEC).

Warshauer Electric Supply (Tinton Falls, N.J.): Joe Vanore has joined the company as vice president of finance, reporting directly to Jim Warshauer, company president, and will oversee all accounting, financial, information technology and human resources for the company. Vanore joins Warshauer from The Main Tape Corp., a manufacturer in protection films and application tapes, where he spent the past 17 years as their controller/treasurer.

Baldor Electric Co. (Fort Smith, Ark.): Ryan Fitts was recently promoted to director of quality where he will lead Baldor’s Corporate Quality program. Fitts joined Baldor in 2011 as a member of the Lean Core team. Since that time, he led the project team that established the 210 motor plant in Fort Smith, Ark., and most recently was the company’s director of logistics. He has prior experience with Whirlpool and Hallmark. Fitts holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas and an MBA from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.
