The overall construction market is showing some signs of a slowdown because of concerns over the lack of progress on Capitol Hill on the massive influx of infrastructure spending that had been promised during the campaign season. But some local markets are enjoying a bonanza in new construction spending, according to EM research into the largest projects now being planned, breaking ground or underway.

The overall construction market is showing some signs of a slowdown because of concerns over the lack of progress on Capitol Hill on the massive influx of infrastructure spending that had been promised during the campaign season. But some local markets are enjoying a bonanza in new construction spending, according to EM research into the largest projects now being planned, breaking ground or underway.
As you can see in the chart below, Texas looks like it’s getting a huge share of the new construction work, with big-time projects in the oil & gas, office and stadium markets underway. Promoters have even billed the construction in the Dallas metro’s Frisco, TX, as the “$5 billion mile.” It includes a new $1.5 billion headquarters for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and several other billion-dollar mixed-use projects.
