The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, has received a $100,000 contribution from the L & R Anixter Foundation of Chicago, to the NAED Education & Research Foundation.

The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, has received a $100,000 contribution from the L & R Anixter Foundation of Chicago, to the NAED Education & Research Foundation.

“This is an opportunity to give back to the industry in the memory of my uncle and aunt, Lester and Rosalie Anixter,” said Steven Anixter, a director of the L & R Anixter Foundation and president and CEO of Advance Electrical Supply Co. in Chicago. “The electrical industry has been my family’s business for three generations, since my grandfather founded Englewood Electric Supply in 1919, 84 years ago. The industry has provided us with many happy, satisfying times as well as a good living and many great relationships. We couldn’t think of a better way to express our appreciation to the industry.”

Named after Lester and Rosalie Anixter, the L & R Anixter Foundation is a family foundation dedicated to charitable giving. Lester Anixter, who was an executive with Englewood Electric Supply in Chicago, dedicated his career to the electrical industry. The trustees of the foundation are Steven Anixter, Edward Anixter, JoAnn Anixter Silva and Jack Ehrlich.

“We’re really pleased and honored by the L & R Anixter Foundation’s donation,” said Bill Elliott, chairman of the NAED Education & Research Foundation and president of Elliott Electric Supply in Nacogdoches, Texas. “The Anixter family has taken a leadership role by making the first donation of this magnitude to the NAED Foundation. Their gift will help establish a permanent base of funding for the Foundation so that we can initiate the critical education and research that we need to thrive as an industry.”

The L & R Anixter Foundation’s donation will become part of an endowment fund for the NAED Education & Research Foundation. The principal amount of the endowment will remain untouched, while the interest will be used to commission future projects and studies. As a $100,000 donor, the L & R Anixter Foundation will have a permanent position on the Channel Advantage Partnership Council, which will help select future educational programs and research projects.
