As part of Electrical Wholesaling’s coverage in this month’s issue of the electrical manufacturers that have been making the most news over the past few years, the magazine’s editors compiled the chart above to give readers a sense of the size of this industry’s largest electrical suppliers.
Even if all of their electrical sales aren’t in the mainstream electrical wholesaling industry, the sheer size of the largest global manufacturers like Siemens (approximately $102.5 billion in total sales) or ABB (approximately $41.5 billion) is striking, particularly when you compare them to the largest U.S.-based electrical manufacturers. Relatively few of the several hundred U.S. electrical manufacturers that sell their products through electrical distributors have annual sales topping one billion dollars.
According to Electrical Wholesaling’s research, only 14 U.S.-based electrical manufacturers have sales of over $1 billion. Interestingly, according to the magazine’s research there’s at least 10 electrical distributors that do $1 billion in sales. Panduit appears to be the only privately held electrical manufacturer based in the United States with sales topping a billion dollars. Leviton Manufacturing Co., is second largest with an estimated $742 million in sales according to the Hoovers database.
