Summit Electric Supply, Albuquerque, N.M., has opened a 50,000-square-foot service center in Jacksonville, Fla. The company now operates in 20 cities across five states.

“Jacksonville is a steady market with a well-rounded business community of both industrial and commercial companies,” said Drew Ott, vice president of sales.

Summit was attracted to Jacksonville because of its growth potential, said Service Center Leader John Truss, who has been in the Florida electrical industry for 13 years.Summit has entered the market prepared to compete against the large chain suppliers, he added. The warehouse at 6801 Suemac Place has been stocked initially with $2 million in inventory from top manufacturers.

Summit has a counter service guarantee that means customers get a “Summit Buck” worth $5 off a purchase if customers are not served in 30 seconds, Truss explained. And the company gives a $20 credit for any will call order not ready in 20 minutes from the time it’s called in. Summit also delivers directly to job sites and offers 24/7 emergency service. Summit will hold a grand opening event at the service center in April for customers and others in the electrical industry.
