Code Alerts, a new Web site feature from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Rosslyn, Va., provides up-to-date information on the status of the nation’s electrical code.

The Web page features National Electrical Code activity and provides timely information on state and local adoption of the NEC and other codes of interest. Code Alerts automatically sends an e-mail to subscribers when new code developments occur. As updated code alerts are added, older alerts are removed and archived. To access the field representative program homepage, please visit www.nema.org/fieldreps/.

“NEMA has representatives on each of the 19 NEC code-making panels, which are responsible for maintenance of the NEC, and submits proposals and comments on behalf of its members each code revision cycle,” says Vince Baclawski, technical director for NEMA’s engineering department. “NEMA also promotes the direct adoption of the NEC at the state and local level through the efforts of the field representatives.”

In addition to Code Alerts, several new elements have been added to the Web site to make use of the expertise available through NEMA’s Field Representative Program. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section includes information from panel discussions held by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), as well as questions fielded routinely by the representatives. The FAQs are divided into categories to allow easier navigation.
