Mayer Electric Supply Co. Inc., Birmingham, Ala., has agreed to buy Jones & Lee Supply of Knoxville, Tenn.
Jones & Lee was founded in 1948 and remains a family business. Over the past half century, the company has grown from two associates to where they now employ a team of 26.
“Jones & Lee is already a very solid distributor in the eastern Tennessee market and together we see that this will foster even quicker growth with customers in Knoxville, as well as the surrounding communities,” said Jim Summerlin, Mayer’s president.
John Lee, president of Jones & Lee, said Mayer was the obvious choice of distributors with which to team up. “We’ve known of Mayer for a long time and have always heard good things about them. Over the course of the last several months we’ve learned a lot more about their people-oriented culture, capabilities, and strategies for growth and we have come away even more impressed. We know that our teaming up with Mayer will be the best thing that could have happened for our associates and our customers for many reasons.”
There are no immediate plans to change the name of the company. Mayer Electric is No. 15 on Electrical Wholesaling magazine’s Top 200 Electrical Distributors listing.
