Dow sees huge growth for new line of photovoltaic shingles

The Dow Chemical Co.’s Dow Solar Solution division unveiled its line of Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingles on Oct. 5. Dow has developed photovoltaic solar panels in the form of solar shingles that can be integrated into rooftops with standard asphalt shingle materials. The solar shingle systems are expected to be available in limited quantities by mid-2010 and projected to be more widely available in 2011. According to a Reuters report, mega-builders Lennar Corp and Pulte Homes, two of the nation’s largest homebuilders, have agreed to install the shingles in some of their homes.
