ALP Lighting Components Inc., Chicago, has purchased the assets of Steel Craft Industries, a manufacturer of unwired fluorescent fixture assemblies. Prior to the acquisition, ALP represented Steel Craft to the lighting industry for nearly five decades through its Bill Brown Sales Agency.

Steve Brown, ALP’s CEO, said the merger expands its offering and improves service levels to OEM lighting manufacturers.

“With our combined strengths, our customers will be able to enjoy improved service and better regional access to the product. We will also be in a better position to respond to the competitive pressures of today’s marketplace and manage the escalating costs of raw materials.”

Steel Craft’s Newark-based manufacturing operation will be placed within ALP’s Atlanta and Monterrey, Calif., facilities. Product will be distributed though ALP’s current network that relies on large regional warehousing facilities in Pennsauken, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta.
