GE Lighting Rolls Out New Connected Lighting Products

Jan. 5, 2018
Earlier this week the company announced an ambitious expansion of its “C by GE” portfolio, which includes what it calls “the industry’s first voice-integrated ceiling fixture.”

While most of the talk inside the industry about GE these days is about who might buy the company’s lighting business, the folks in that division’s Nela Park, OH, R&D labs are still cranking out new products. Earlier this week the company announced an ambitious expansion of its “C by GE” portfolio, which includes what it calls “the industry’s first voice-integrated ceiling fixture,” a feature-rich smart wall switch and enhancements to existing products.

Said Jeff Patton, GE Lighting’s general manager for Connected Home Products in a press release announcing the launch, “Imagine you have a hard time falling asleep, but also a hard time waking up. Your bedroom is a space for reading before bed and folding clothes, and it’s always cold. Imagine if lighting could optimize that environment and solve for those challenges and needs. We will get you there through lighting solutions paired with voice, sensors and other technology that you can use on their own or in combination across the home.”
