Southwire said John Pappas, Coleman Cable’s senior vice president—corporate marketing, is retiring from the company after a 30-year career. Coleman Cable, Waukegan, Ill., was acquired by Carrollton, Ga.-based Southwire earlier this year.

Pappas joined Coleman Cable as national sales manager in 1984 and served the company in a variety of senior leadership positions throughout the years. While overseeing Coleman Cable’s corporate marketing initiatives, Pappas also led its electrical distribution, OEM and U.S. retail businesses for substantial periods during his career.

“John has been an important member of the Coleman Cable team for 30 years,” said Kurt Hennelly, executive vice president, distribution & sourcing, for Southwire. “We appreciate his contributions and wish him a long and enjoyable retirement.”

Pappas and his wife Judy, married in 1980, were expecting their first child when he joined Coleman Cable. The couple has three children: Katie (29), Chris (27), and Andrew (24). Since 1992, John has been an Adjunct Professor at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, where he received the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2000, 2008 and 2014. He serves as an officer on the school’s board of directors and leads the marketing faculty in his role as bench facilitator.
