The publication of Electrical Wholesaling's Top 200 is an annual event. It gives the electrical industry a look at the largest electrical distributors in North America, ranked by sales, with lots of interesting data on those companies, their performance over the past year and their outlook for the year ahead. EW's editors now have the 2016 Top 200 up on the magazine's website at ewweb.com.
This year there's little change at the top of the list: Sonepar North America is still the largest, with sales in 2015 of $9.6 billion, up $1.1 billion from 2014 (put in context, Sonepar grew by about one Crescent Electric Supply over the past year).
As it was last year, Sonepar is followed by WESCO, Graybar and Rexel, then Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) takes the #5 spot from Anixter. CED should enjoy its year at #5 because the next two names on the list will be combined next year once HD Supply Power Solutions (#6) becomes part of Anixter International (#7). Border States, W.W. Grainger and Crescent Electric Supply round out the Top 10.
